Hey, everyone! A friend of mine found a really rad website you should all check out! It's called Humans of New York. The author is Brandon Stanton. Like us, he takes portraits of strangers on the street and writes their stories. Since he began his project, Brandon has taken over 3,000 portraits and written 50 stories.
Brandon's goal is to construct a photographic census of the city of New York. As he collects these photos, he plots them on an interactive map of the city. Though he has taken hundreds of portraits from all five boroughs, only Manhattan is currently viewable. He will be adding the remaining boroughs as they are filled in.
Along the way, Humans of New York has grown into a vibrant blog. Every day, Brandon adds new photos of people from every neighborhood. Taken together, these portraits cover the entire spectrum of New York’s population. HONY is constantly evolving, and Brandon encourages everyone to follow along and participate. If you want to check out more and get involved, Humans of New York has a very active Facebook group where the most recent content is discussed.
Have fun! I know I'll be checking Humans of New York regularly. :)
