Reading on the Subway

I recently found out about a really cool blog that features readers on the New York subway! Photographer Ourit Ben-Haim takes photos of New Yorkers reading on the subway and shares the titles of their books with her readers. There's something vulnerable and intimate about catching someone reading, don't you think? Reading is such an intensely personal and private moment. It's so easy to get lost in another world...
The blog essentially functions as a library and I particularly like that there are even hours listed for different "events" that are hosted on the site.

Do you like the idea? I think I might try and incorporate some readers in my next interviews.
P.S. What are you reading this summer? At the moment I am reading A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway and I just finished The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. I highly recommend both! :)

  1. Being in a subway is such a boring time, with only the sound of strangers and trains. Sometimes it is better to entertain yourselves with books and music.

  2. Or by talking to other people. ;)

You'd be surprised how interesting and nice strangers can be.

Although I must admit, there are days when I too enjoy reading, listening to music, or just thinking while I ride the train. It can be a great time to decompress and have some down time during the day.
