If you can't tell, CC is a fashionista hailing from the great city of New York. A student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, CC was on her way back to the dorms after purchasing fabric, accessories and tools to make a corset for her class. How cool is that?! I would love to be able to make clothes and design things that people would wear regularly.
CC's favorite designer is Claire McCardell because she changed the standards for fashion in her time. In the 1940s, women were expected to dress by a certain standard that, of course, included heels. McCardell was the woman who invented the ballet flat, a modern staple. I, for one, own about 40 different pairs, and can't imagine having to wear heels everyday.
Alas, Chicago will not get to see much more of CC because she will be returning home to Manhattan, where she will continue studying art and fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology. But! She leaves us with a list of her favorite things that she hopes you'll check out: Downton Abbey (my friends are obsessed, but I have yet to watch it), Titanic in 3D (it was actually not nauseating like most 3D films), and Lucky by Alice Sebold, whom you may know as the author of The Lovely Bones.
It was lovely to meet you CC, and I hope you have a safe trip home to New York.
And for my readers: A Guide to New York City by one of my favorite bloggers.
